GEORGE TOWN - The six-year-old Penang Front Party (PFP) is undergoing a rebranding exercise, during which it is targeting to register 100,000 new members within three months.

The Penang-based party pledged its support for the current government but has not decided to join any of the coalitions.

The party was previously headed by Datuk Patrick Ooi but today appointed Datuk Razalif Mohd Zain as its new president, resolving to change its name to Youth Front Party. Razalif said Ooi would now serve as its adviser.

"The rebranding will give the party new directions, including our target of boosting the current membership of 5,000 with 100,000 new members in three months, especially among youths.

'We have registered 5,000 new members in Sabah and will be conducting a nationwide tour to introduce the party to the public, most of whom think PFP is meant for Penang people only,” Razalif told reporters at the PFP office here today.

PFP was established in September 2016 by Lee Poh Kong as its pro tem chairman before it was revived by Ooi in May 2017.

PFP lost in all the state and parliamentary seats it contested in the 14th and 15th general elections.

Razalif said the party planned to contest at least 15 state seats in Penang in its next state election.

'We are targeting youths because in GE15 there were some four million young voters but only 2.5 million voted because many did not know which party to support,” he added.
