New year 2023: Preserve unity, avoid disputes

SHAH ALAM - Malaysians are urged to preserve unity and avoid conflict among one another, in efforts to develop a harmonious country.

The Religious Affairs Minister Datuk Dr Mohd Na'im Mokhtar Minister Datuk Dr Mohd Na'im Mokhtar said this was in line with the core policy of the unity government, which emphasises unity between all parties regardless of religious and political background.

He said the community must go back to basics to appreciate the knowledge and culture to restore the strength of the community.

"Going into the new year 2023, I would like to take the opportunity to call on Malaysians to work together to maintain the harmony and well-being of the country.

"Hopefully, the new year's resolutions will be guided by knowledge and will lead to greater excellence in addition to benefiting others," he said in a statement on Sunday.

Appreciating the time we have now, he said it must be managed responsibly as we move towards a better life with the passing of the new year.

"Recently, our country has been hit by landslides and floods that have cost lives and damaged property to the people.

"On the basis of unity among Malaysians, we have all united in expressing our grief and trying to provide help and support in addition to praying for strength for all the victims," he explained.

Mohd Na'im also prayed that 2023 would further strengthen the people's unity.
