Thailand long distance trains to operate from new terminal starting Jan 19

Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), in a statement, said tourists will need to catch their trains to other destinations throughout Thailand from the Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Terminal, while the inbound trains to Bangkok will also arrive here.
A total 14 train services to the north, 20 to the south, and 18 to the northeast would be operating at Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Terminal which also known as Bang Sue Grand Station.
"The Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Terminal is the new main train station of Thailand designed to be a major rail transportation hub.
To mark the opening of the new station, the State Railway of Thailand (SRT) will operate the KIHA air-conditioned diesel train for tourists on the Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Terminal-Ayutthaya Railway Station route.
"The first long-distance train set to depart from the Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Terminal on January 19 is Train No 171, a rapid overnight sleeper service from Bangkok to Sungai Kolok on the Thai-Malaysian border in Narathiwat province,” it said.
Sub-urban trains and trains on special tourism routes are still operating fom Hua Lamphong station.
Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Terminal opened in August 2021 and boasts 26 platforms across a 270,000 sq metre site. - BERNAMA
