AMPANG - A civil servant has been arrested after he was allegedly found using personal belongings of the recent Batang Kali landslide victims.

Acting Selangor Police Chief Datuk S Sasikala Devi Subramaniam said the 27-year-old suspect was detained in Klang Valley.

"In the arrest, we also seized items believed to belong to the victims (of the landslide case).

"An application for remand against the suspect will be made today to assist the investigation according to Section 379 of the Penal Code," she said at a press conference at the Ampang Jaya District Police Headquarters (IPD) today.

On January 1, Sinar reported an investigation paper was opened over allegations linked to irresponsible individuals who used Touch n Go cards belonging to victims of the landslide tragedy at the Father's Organic Farm campsite.

The allegations went viral believed to have been uploaded by family members of the victims of the tragedy.

The investigation is conducted under Section 379 of the Penal Code.
