PH Sabah says no to dissolution of Sabah assembly

KOTA KINABALU - Pakatan Harapan (PH) Sabah disagree for the Sabah State Assembly to be dissolved should the political turmoil in the state continues.

In a joint statement, seven PH Sabah State Assembly Members reiterated their stance to not support any attempt to overthrow the government through the 'back door'.

"We feel very disappointed that Sabah is again facing a political crisis that should not have happened.

"We reiterate our previous position that we do not support any attempt to overthrow the government through the 'back door' means.

"At the same time, we do not agree for the state assembly to be dissolved if this crisis continues and the position of the state assembly for the time is hung,” he said in a statement on Saturday.

According to the statement, seven PH Sabah assemblymen supported Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, also the Sulaman assemblyman.

"This is in line with our principle to ensure political stability continues to be stable in Sabah and not engage in measures like the 'Sheraton Move'.

"Following this support, we agree that a Sabah Unity Government can be formed as practised at the Federal level," said the statement.

The main focus at this time should be to ensure that the goal was to help the people and develop the economy as well as to work together to ensure that the fight for the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) was done in favour of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s wish, the statement read.

"We pray that the political turmoil will end shortly and the well-being of the people of Sabah will continue to be defended with this support," the statement further read.

The joint statement was issued by Api-api assemblyman, Datuk Christina Liew; Tanjung Papat assemblyman, Datuk Poon Fung Ming; Kadamaian assemblyman, Datuk Ewon Benedick; Kapayan assemblyman Jannie Lasimbang; Luyang assemblyman Phoong Jin Zhe; Likas assemblyman, Tan Lee Fatt and Inanam assemblyman, Peto Galim.
