KUALA LUMPUR – Umno Secretary-General Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan states five reasons the party lost in last year’s 15th General Election (GE15).

The Pontian MP said this was due to Umno had previously won two state elections in Melaka and Johor, on top of seven by-elections prior.

"Of course, we think something extraordinary is happening. I summarised five things that happened, including misusing personal data (where) the youth and even us 'digital bill'.

"Who gave them our mobile number? They looted the numbers and misused them," he claimed.

He said this when delivering a speech at the 2022 Umno General Assembly (PAU) at the Kuala Lumpur World Trade Centre (WTCKL) here today.

Ahmad claimed another reason was the act of bribery to voters, which took place in a particular state where the youths were manipulated with many postings spread on social media.

"On TikTok, certain things are right while some things are not.

“Umno leaders were oppressed (such as) Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, several members of the Supreme Working Council (MKT) (and) ‘Bossku’ Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

"Of course, we admit that there is also our own fault (namely) internal sabotage," he claimed, adding that the matter he mentioned was planned by the opposing party.

Meanwhile, Ahmad also announced the 2022 PAU which took place on Friday was attended by 2,820 people which involved 57 supreme council members, 30 wing representatives, 2,553 division representatives and 180 information chiefs who were observers.
