SHAH ALAM - DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang has called for Pas president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang to substantiate his claims that DAP is anti-Malay, anti-Islam, communist and promoting Islamophobia.

In a statement released from Penang today, he insisted, "Hadi should substantiate his allegations that the DAP is anti-Malay, anti-Islam, communist and promoting Islamophobia or retract his allegations, or be proven to be an irresponsible and immoral political leader who is willing to make all sorts of preposterous allegations to serve his own political interest – a politician who subordinates the national interest to his own personal interest."

Quoting Amanah president Mohamad Sabu, who dubbed Hadi the “biggest liar in the world”, Lim recalled Mohamad speaking at a Kuala Kedah ceramah on Thursday night, suggesting that Pas won a large number of seats in the 15th General Election by creating false perceptions towards Pakatan Harapan.

“In GE15, Pas won big because Pas is the biggest liar in the world. The biggest liar is also its president Hadi Awang, " the former opposition leader recalled the Kota Raja MP's words from the recent ceramah.

"He is an ulama (cleric), but in his ripe old age, he has become a liar and the Malays believed his lies," said Mohamad on stage last Thursday.

"Three days have passed and there has been no response from Hadi to Mohamad," Lim said.

"On top of that, it has been two months since Hadi made the serious charge that the DAP was promoting Islamophobia, but the Marang MP has as yet to cite an instance to substantiate his charge," he added.

Lim also criticised Hadi who was the Special Envoy to two ‘backdoor’ Prime Ministers from 2020 to 2022 and received RM60,000 a month in salaries, yet seemed to be unaware of the fact that the Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC) has an Islamophobia Observatory monitoring Islamophobia on a global and daily basis.

"The OIC Islamophobia Observatory has come out with annual reports on Islamophobia since 2007, but it is not aware of Islamophobia in Malaysia. Did Hadi discharge his duties as Special Envoy and made special report to the OIC Islamophobia Observatory about Islamophobia in Malaysia?" he questioned the PAS president's sense of responsibility.

"When did the DAP start promoting Islamophobia? When DAP had one Malay MP in 1990 or when the DAP had three Malay Members of Parliament in 2022?," asked Lim.

"Or was it before the 2013 general election when DAP refused to propose Hadi as Prime Minister-designate of Pakatan Rakyat in the 13th General Election? This is a serious allegation as the DAP is part of the Federal Government of Malaysia and part of five State governments."

Lim reminded Hadi that DAP had four Ministers, 40 Members of Parliament, a State Chief Minister, a State Deputy Chief Minister, 14 State Executive Councillors and 91 State Assemblymen and asked if Hadi is making an irresponsible and preposterous allegation that Islamophobia is part of the programme in all Malaysia’s Federal and state governments.
