SHAH ALAM - Festivals are all about family gatherings, feasts and Chinese New Year sums it all.

The Chinese community has always been known for massive family gatherings where there will be a compulsory festive “meeting” every year.

Despite the increase in prices of goods, it did not stop the Malaysian Chinese from celebrating the beginning of a new year.

Jasmine Chang, 25, who hailed from Melaka said she will be hosting a lunch party and invited all of her relatives.

She said although the prices of goods have increased, she still managed to serve good food for her guests.

“We’ll celebrate the Chinese New Year with lunch which I’ll host and I have invited all my family members.

“The prices of items have increased, but I was still able to serve good food for the gathering,” she told Sinar Daily.

Meanwhile Lynelle Tham, 21 said for her, the celebration this year went as usual despite the rise in the prices of goods.
