Umno to hold party polls from Feb 1 to March 18

KUALA LUMPUR - The Umno election will take place from Feb 1 to March 18, this year.

Its secretary general Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan said the dates were fixed during the Umno supreme council meeting, last night (Friday).

He said the Umno annual delegates conference at the branch level and the polls for Wanita, Youth and Puteri branch wings will take place for 26 days from Feb 1 to 26.

The polls for the Wanita, Youth and Puteri division wings will be held simultaneously nationwide on March 11, he added.

"Polls for the Umno supreme council members at the division levels will take place simultaneously on March 18 nationwide," he said in a statement, last night.

Meanwhile, during the meeting chaired by Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, the supreme council had agreed to appoint Tan Sri Shahrir Ab Samad as the chairman of the Umno election committee.
