SHAH ALAM - No prime minister in Malaysian history has ever appointed their child as an advisor, says Perikatan Nasional (PN) Chairman, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

His statement on his official Facebook page on Monday was in response to former Permatang Pauh member of parliament (MP), Nurul Izzah Anwar, being appointed as the Senior Economic and Financial Advisor to the Prime Minister.

"This appointment proves the Reformation slogan that (Prime Minister Datuk Seri) Anwar Ibrahim has been chanting for more than 20 years is empty talk.

"Less than 100 days into his reign, Anwar has betrayed the spirit of the reformation and its struggle, supported by his own supporters," he said.

Muhyiddin further called on Anwar to advise Nurul Izzah to step down from her position as the senior economic and financial advisor.

The former prime minister believed that Nurul Izzah still has the potential to grow and is a talented woman leader.

Moreover, the Pagoh MP also slammed Anwar for not keeping his promise of not taking on the role of finance minister.

With that being said, Muhyiddin urged the Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman to step down as finance minister.

"This is another mistake by Anwar. It is not too late for Anwar to improve the situation.

"Resign as finance minister and focus on being prime minister, especially when the people and the country are facing difficult times," he said.

The media reported that Nurul Izzah had confirmed her appointment as the Senior Economic and Financial Advisor to the Prime Minister, effective Jan 3.

Her appointment, however, had received numerous backlashes from various parties.
