SHAH ALAM - Former Prime Minister and Bera MP Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob has no issues with internet users policing over fashion sense.

Despite receiving it with an open heart, he said he cannot be limited with their opinions alone.

"When I was the prime minister, I was automatically owned by the people. I belong to them so they have rights to give opinions about me, be it good or bad.

"I am open to all opinions but that cannot restrict my life. I cannot limit myself, for instance, I love Burberry shirts so I wear them.

"Its the people's rights to comment and it’s my rights to wear the clothes," he told Sinar Daily during a Politically Frank episode.

Ismail Sabri has been scrutinised for his designer outfits multiple times.

In May last year, he was criticised for wearing a Burberry shirt that cost around RM6,000 during his meeting with Singapore's Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loon in Tokyo, Japan.

Netizen made snide remarks across all social media platforms and urged the former prime minister to be a little sensitive about his dressing as there was no a 'need' for a prime minister to wear costly shirts especially during a time where people were struggling to make ends meet.
