Education can change the fate of Palestinian youths

SEREMBAN - Palestinian youths are determined to change their fate through education.

University College of Applied Sciences Scientific Research Department deputy head , Abeer Z. Barakah said Palestinian youths are struggling to study but despite the difficulties that they face, they are determined to achieve excellence.

"The youths here believe that by having good quality education, they will be able to support themselves and their families.

"We cannot go out from Gaza, but as a lecturer, I want to say that we do have quality education in Palestine, students are not able to further their studies outside of Gaza, unless they have sponsorship." she told Sinar Daily.

Abeer said students face challenges such as having no electricity for almost 12 hours.

"How can they charge their laptop? Or even get the internet connection?," Abeer questioned.

She said it broke her heart to see some of the students working on their assignments at the roadside just to get proper Abeer said most Palestinian parents work hard to provide their children with the best education.

"We (Palestinians) love education, we love to learn.

"Or even if they cannot afford to send their children to the university, they will send them to master a craft such as sewing or handicrafts," she elaborated.

Abeer is one of the speakers for the International Conference of Palestine Kuala Lumpur (ICPKL) 2023.

500 international and local delegates are expected to attend the conference at the Royal Chulan Hotel in Seremban from Feb 10 to 12.
