KOTA KINABALU - Sabah MCA chairman Lu Yen Tung stressed today that the party was never involved in any plans to over throw the state government led by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.

Lu said the party had always supported Hajiji's leadership and this stance was decided in the party meeting on Jan 11, which was already approved by the MCA Central Committee

“The Sabah government which is formed with Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) have promised to support the unity government at the federal level.

“Sabah MCA stands in the same position as Central MCA we support the formation of the unity government,” he said in a statement on Saturday.

He said the central party committee had given Sabah MCA a larger autonomy and the party will use it to actively caring for Sabahans rights and interests.

“Sabah MCA urges for all Sabahans to set aside their differences and remain united under the leadership of the chief minister to bring the state towards greater development, prosperity and progress.

The recent political turmoil in Sabah was caused when Sabah Umno-Barisan Nasional (BN) had announced to withdraw their support for Hajiji as chief minister.

The efforts to topple Hajiji failed when he received 44 Sworn Declaration (SD) from Sabah state Assemblymen.
