SHAH ALAM - Prominent leader Datuk Seri Azmin Ali is going on a 'break' from his politics.

Through a Twitter post today, Azmin said he needed to go back to 'back to the drawing board' in order to determine his next move.

"To all Malaysians. It is a momentary pause in my career for public service that warrants going back to the drawing board.

"Nevertheless, there remains no let-up in my resolve to serve the nation and the rakyat," he wrote on Twitter.

Azmin had failed to defend his Gombak seat in the 15th general election last year, which he had held since 2004, he had lost to the Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.

It was predicted that Azmin might return to prominence as Perikatan Nasional’s candidate to be its Selangor menteri besar this year in the upcoming state elections.

Azmin is not stranger to controversy having been embroiled in an alleged sexual video scandal which went viral back in 2019.

In February 2020, he became a part of what is now known in the Malaysian political scene as the ' Sheraton Move' which was a plot that brought down the Pakatan Harapan government at the time.

He enjoyed prominent ministerial posts in both former Prime Minister's Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri administrations.
