SHAH ALAM - Sinar Harian has just finished the second edition of the Google News Initiative (GNI) Data and Insights Launchpad (DIL), which was made possible by a collaboration between Google and FT Strategies.

With a reader survey, a series of inspirational sessions with professional subject speakers and publisher-tailored seminars, this three-month programme aimed to help publishers grasp the importance of audience data and insights.

FT Strategies leverages the publishers' data and audience insights to generate meaningful business and strategy suggestions on areas such as data collection, data metrics, and developing a data-driven subscription strategy.

The programme also provided a forum for publishers to share their own data-use experiences, from successes to mistakes, throughout their organisations.

Google News Partnerships, South East Asia, and South Asia Emerging Markets Head, Fazal Ashfaq, said Google is excited to launch this program.

"Through this program, we are looking to empower publishers in their digital sustainability efforts and thrive in the digital world," he added.

This programme spanned 5 countries in total, and the 8 participants in this year's programme include; The Straits Times, Singapore; Thairath, Thailand; and ABS-CBN, Philippines.
