SHAH ALAM - In efforts to safeguard the safety and security of the people's money, banking institutions invest huge amounts of funds on measures to avert any instances of scamming occurring at their facilities.

Speaking during the Wacana English Edition entitled "Scammer Alert, Don’t Fall for It", Bank Rakyat Senior Vice President Fraud and Corporate Integrity Mohd Azril Fadzli Azmi said that despite the fact that a lot of people usually do not realise they are being scammed, "There are lots of victims out there who actually borrowed from financial institutions, and when granted all the financing, the money got syphoned out by scammers," he added.

Thus, he claimed banking institutions usually do invest in tools and technologies not only to protect the customers, but also for the purpose of banking businesses.

Therefore, Mohd Azril urged to create more awareness and also sharing with the public as it would carry a huge impact on the society.

"So that they have an instant and actual knowledge of how these scammers work in order to prevent future occurrences," he said.

Mohd Azli was one of the guest speaker along with Universiti Malaya Senior Lecturer and Criminologist, Dr Haezreena Begum and Crime Prevention Specialist, Dr Shamir Rajadurai.

The one-hour programme discussed mostly online scamming, which is basically more active in the current generation.
