SHAH ALAM - The Selangor Islamic Religious Department (JAIS) clarified that Ustaz Azhar Idrus's "Kuliah Maghrib" (Maghrib lecture) at Masjid Diraja Tengku Ampuan Jemaah Bukit Jelutong was cancelled because the preacher did not have religious teaching certificate in Selangor.

In a Facebook post earlier, JAIS director Datuk Shahzihan Ahmad said the decision was in accordance to the laws and regulation in Selangor.

"Any individuals who intend to conduct religious lectures must comply with the laws and regulations.

"The mosque or surau cannot invite individuals who do not have any teaching credentials given as per Section 118 of the Administration of the Religion of Islam (Selangor State) Enactment 2003 Amendment 2016," he said in a statement on Friday.

On Friday, Azhar Idrus through a Facebook post, informed that kuliah has been cancelled JAIS.

"It is with great regret, we wouldn't be able to deliver the kuliah as scheduled to the people of Selangor," said the statement posted on Azhar Idrus's Facebook.
