SHAH ALAM - Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari is a director of a company handed an RM700 million project via direct negotiations by the state government to ensure the projects are done right, his press secretary Jay Jay Denis said today.

Responding to revelations made by The Green Party (PHM) secretary general Abdul Razak Ismail that Amirudin was found to be among the directors of Landasan Lumayan Berjaya Sdn Bhd (LLB), Jay said it was by virtue of the project "being under the Menteri Besar Selangor Incorporated (MBI)".

“He is there as the Selangor Menteri Besar to ensure that the state government's efforts to restore the water quality and rejuvenation of Klang River are achieved, in line with the decision of the state government Meeting," Jay Jay said when contacted.

He added that LLB is a subsidiary of the state government under MBI.

LLB was awarded the RM700 million Selangor Maritime Gateway which involved the deepening and widening of a 56-kilometre stretch of the Klang River from Mid Valley City in Kuala Lumpur to Port Klang, which Amirudin has stated was also part of flood mitigation plans.

Tycoon Tan Sri Vincent Tan is also a director of the company by virtue of his conglomerate Berjaya Land Berhad (BLand), holding a 55 per cent stake in LLB.

Abdul Razak also claimed that besides Amirudin, Selangor Infrastructure and Public Utilities, Modernisation of Agriculture and Agro-based Industry executive council chairman Izham Hashim was also on the company's list of directors.
