SHAH ALAM - Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah wants the government to turn its attention towards performing thorough research to reduce flood risks.

A long term solution must be laid out, however, immediate action must be prioritised.

Several parts of Johor were now flooded, with over 30,000 victims affected and a few deaths recorded.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has announced a financial aid of RM50 million to help those who are in need.

The government does provide substantial funding for flood-affected states, but efforts should be made to address flood problems before they arise.

If the issue is not tackled from the beginning, it could cost the government a lot of money each time it occurs.

The flooding issues have been plaguing the country. But it is the loss of lives and properties that needs serious attention.

The country is facing losses in terms of damages to public assets, and the government must act to solve this issue by reducing the risks or solving it.
