Cub Prix: Kasma rules Jempol
JEMPOL - Kasma Daniel Kasmayudin bagged his first win of the season from pole position in the CP150 class in Round Two of the Petronas Malaysian Cub Prix Championship at the Dataran Sri Jempol today.
The Petronas Sprinta Yamaha Maju Motor rider led from the opening lap to take victory ahead of Petronas Sprinta Yamaha-CKJ's Md Akid Aziz, while Honda Yuzy Estremo's Azroy Hakeem Anuar took third spot.
Throughout the race, Kasma grounded himself firmly in the lead, while Akid and Azroy were locked in a race-long battle for second, which saw the leader rarely managing to open up comfortable gap up front.
That was until the last lap, when the gap between Kasma and Akid became wider while Akid lost touch of the front two. Kasma celebrated his first victory for Season 2023 when he clocked in at 14 minutes 53:692 seconds.
“During the race, I was a little late and was left out. Adding on to the strain was the heat and I felt like the power was drained off. During that time, I tried to overtake while also retaining my racing line. Akid and Azroy were both close behind and their machines were also quite different. Akid had the upperhand in terms of top speed therefore, I tried my best to maintain my momentum, focusing on cornering," said Kasma.
“The weather was extremely hot and the tires of the other riders too were affected. We only tried to do our best, played safe to avoid any fall. I am truly grateful for the win.”
In the CP125 class, Md Khairi Ashraf Mahmood of Jetron Yamaha YYPang Racing Team took control from pole to flag for his first win of the season, ahead of teammate Md Shafiq Ezzariq Saiful Nizam, while Petronas Sprinta Yamaha Maju Motor's Md Adie Putra Sukarno took third spot.
“I am thankful to my team for the right setup of the machine. In the beginning, it was quite a tough fight especially with riders of such great calibre. Nevertheless, the opportunity opened up for me when the three riders ahead of me had a fall. I immediately raced ahead and completed the race at P1,” said Md Khairi.
In the Wira KBS class, Emil Idzhar Ezuan of Yamaha Estremo 27 Racing took the victory ahead of Bad Lab Honda KC Racing's Adib Hareez, while Ahmad Iqram Danish Ahmad Ghazali made it two spots on the podium for Yamaha Estremo 27 Racing by taking third.
