KUALA LUMPUR - There is a huge difference between Bersatu and Umno presidents, namely that Tan Sri Muhydiddin Yassin had the courage to take responsibility and decided to resign.

In defending the party's president, Bersatu information chief Datuk Razali Idris said it is not the case for Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi who never offered to resign either in the Supreme Council Meeting (MKT) or the Umno General Assembly (PAU).

He said Muhyiddin already resigned during the Bersatu special meeting held at Taman Melewar Passport Office on Saturday at 6pm, but the Supreme Council had unanimously rejected his resignation.

"The motion was brought to the General Assembly which was held today since Tan Sri Muhyiddin was not satisfied with the decision. The motion brought by Bersatu deputy president (Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu) was unanimously rejected by all delegates.

"I want to ask Umno information chief (Isham Jalil) if the Umno president has ever offered to resign in MKT or PAU? "The difference between Bersatu and Umno presidents is like the difference between heaven and earth. Umno president is facing 47 charges while Muhyiddin is only facing seven charges," he told Sinar Harian.

He said this in response to Isham's statement that accused Muhyiddin of not keeping his words, or 'cakap tidak serupa bikin' as he is still the party's president despite facing court cases.

Isham said that the Bersatu leader previously urged leaders of opposing parties to resign if they have any court trials, but said it does not apply to the leader himself.
