SHAH ALAM - The police will resummon the witnesses of the Teoh Beng Hock case to complete the investigation papers.

Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said following the decision of the Cabinet Meeting (MJM) in 2018, the police have reopened the investigation paper on the case under Section 342 of the Penal Code for wrongful confinement.

"The investigation paper was returned by the Attorney General's Chambers (AGC) to the investigating officer (IO) on Jan 6, 2023.

"The police have been asked to record further statements of important witnesses before resubmitting the investigation papers to the AGC for further instructions," he said through a written reply in the Dewan Rakyat on Monday.

He said this in response to a question from Chow Yu Hui (PH-Raub) who asked the home minister to state the status of the re-investigation of the late Teoh Beng Hock case since 2018 and the willingness of the Unity Government to establish a new investigation team to investigate the case according to Section 302 or 304 of the Penal Code.

Beng Hock was found dead on July 16, 2009 on the fifth floor of the Plaza Masalam building, Shah Alam, after testifying at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) office on the 14th floor of the same building.

The deceased was the political secretary to Seri Kembangan assemblyman Ean Yong Hian Wah who was then the State Local Government committee, and Kampung Baru Selangor Development chairman.
