KUALA LUMPUR - The police will summon several individuals including the organiser of the the Solidarity Rally with Palestinians held in front of Masjid Jamek Kampung Baru, here.

Dang Wangi district police chief Assistant Commissioner Noor Dellhan Yahaya said it was estimated around 40 people had gathered in front of the mosque after Friday prayers.

"A police team from the Dang Wangi District Police Headquarters (IPD) has been deployed around the mosque for security and public control

"The police was not notified of the public rally from the organiser," he told Sinar today.

He said the investigation is still in process and the police will summon the organiser and some related individuals.

The investigation was conducted in accordance to Section 9(5) of the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012.

In the rally mentioned, a group of Umno Youth members and the public had burned the Israeli flag to show solidarity with Palestinians who have been suffering from oppression by the Israeli Zionist regime.

Umno Youth chief Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh had led the act of burning the flag during the rally in front of Masjid Jamek Kampung Baru.

He also said the purpose of the rally was to send a message to the Zionist regime as well as an official protest letter to the Foreign Ministry so the matter will be taken to the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the United Nations (UN).
