SHAH ALAM - The Umno leadership and its members have been adviced to not follow in the footsteps of other parties who love to speculate, manipulate and throw accusations towards their party's leadership.

Its secretary Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor said members should respect the presidential institution of the party and keep the organisation focused on strengthening the party.

"It is wise for all party members to band together and reject speculations, manipulations and perceptions regarding Umno's leadership.

"We must rise up after facing the bitter test in the 15th general election (GE15) and post party elections, the negative issues should not be brought up again," he said in a Facebook post on Tuesday.

He added party members especially those who were new should instill the spirit of unity by respecting the the presidential institution and organisation as a whole.

Tengku Adnan explained the top leadership, especially the president has weighed in, reviewed and taken into account holistically made decisions.

"There have been no individuals in the party who have bragged or claimed that Umno is owned by the president.

"This is because they agree and know the presidential institution must be respected as the leadership that holds the trust to ensure that the party continues to flourish in its struggle," he said.
