KOTA BHARU - All members and supporters of Umno should vote for Perikatan Nasional (PN) in the state elections because the 'sacred' Malay party does not have a future according to Pas vice president Datuk Mohd Amar Abdullah.

Mohd Amar explained with today’s current political landscape, Umno is seen as no longer being able to defend Islam and Malays as it seems to have lost its “fangs”.

“If we look at Umno’s record, they are falling more and more until there are only 26 (Parliament) seats today. With the leadership we have today, I expect Umno will continue to fall further.

“Taking the example of Selangor, Pakatan Harapan (PH) does not want to give way to Umno and it is understood that it is likely that they (Umno) will only get around eight seats in the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) in the next elections,” he said after the “Semabang Santai” programmae together with Tan Sri Noh Omar.

The programme was held in conjunction with Kelantan Maju Rakyat Sejahtera Carnival at Dataran Warisan, Sultan Muhammad IV here Thursday night.

Mohd Amar said that currently PN is seen as a suitable coalition to replace Umno in safeguarding the rights of Islam and the Malays in Malaysia.

He said Umno members or supporters do not need to join Pas or Bersatu but only vote for PN in the next elections.

He said a victory for PN in the elections is for the interests of Islam and the Malays as well as the future of the country.

“In the context of Malaysia, the core party that governs is usually Malay and Islam. Previously, it used to be Umno but in PH today, the core party is not Malay.

“So the situation is not good for the future of Malaysian politics,” he said.

In other developments, Mohd Amar said, if PN wins in all six states, it will be a referendum of the people’s rejection of PH as the government at the Federal level and that situation is seen to be capable of changing the country’s political landscape from now on.
