History made as World #QuranHour broadcasted live on five TV stations

KUALA LUMPUR - History has been made when the World #QuranHour (WQH) 2023, organised by the Warisan Ummah Ikhlas Foundation (WUIF) was broadcasted live on five television stations in Malaysia, today.

The one-hour programme which ran on a global scale was broadcasted on RTM, TV9, Bernama TV, TV Alhijrah and Astro Oasis.

WUIF founder Datuk Hussamuddin Yaacub said the eighth edition of the programme held at the Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Mosque, International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) went smoothly with the participation of more than 6,000 people.

"Alhamdulillah, today's programme went very smoothly; Allah makes our affairs easier today.

"The World #QuranHour first started in 2016 and we did it simultaneously in 25 countries today.

"We are back this year (physically) after three years due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The total attendance at the Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Mosque today is more than 6,000 people.

"I think this is the best cooperation from various media houses, government agencies, and private sectors. We also see a trend of people reading the Quran now," he said when met at the programme.

Husammuddin who is also Karangkraf Media Group advisor said the company was the largest Quran printing company in Malaysia and Indonesia.

He said the company sold more then three million copies of the Holy Quran each year.

Besides WQH, he said WUIF also organised the My Tadabbur programme which its concept was for people to have a deeper understanding of the Quran.

"Many Muslims read the Quran, but they don’t understand the Quran. So, we have no value as human capital; we make decisions that are not based on the Quran.

"So, because of that, we introduced My Tadabbur, and this has grown in various countries.

"InsyaAllah, in the year 1,500 Hijrah, we hope that all Muslim communities around the world could understand the Quran," Husammuddin said.

He also expressed his gratitude to IIUM for its cooperation as the prime location for the World #QuranHour this year and WUIF which worked hard to make the programme a success today.

Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah also attended programme, today.

Her majesty arrived at about 11.45 am and spent time with the participants and listened to the recitation of Surah Al-Insan.

This year, Surah Al-Insan was chosen as the focal surah, carrying the theme humanising the Ummah, humanising the home, humanising the workplace, humanising the nation as well as humanising the world.
