I'm about to be toppled? Nonsense. -- Hamzah refutes

KUALA LUMPUR - Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin, the current opposition leader in the Dewan Rakyat, has denied rumors that he may be replaced in that position.

Dismissing it as mere political propaganda from Pakatan Harapan (PH), Hamzah said, during Sinar Daily's Fireside Chat, that he "could not care less" about the gossip.

"Who’s making that news? That’s their agenda, I don't care about those people. We know we are united and together.

"Just because I’m not in the Parliament, you think that I don’t know anything?" was Hamzah's rhetorical poser.

Talk of a supposed internal movement that sought to overthrow Hamzah was reported by PH mouthpiece, Harapan Daily, claiming that it was due to his allies seeing him as "disinterested" in carrying out his parliamentary duties.

A case in point, was his frequent absence in the recently adjourned Dewan Rakyat sitting.

"It’s not because I don’t want to be in the Parliament, I was having problem with my eyes.

"I was suffering from retina detachment and my doctor said it is better to not go to Parliament as it could create more problems," he explained.

Apart from regular parliamentary debates, Hamzah was also unable to attend every single Prime Minister's Question Time (PMQT) sessions that took place between February 13 and April 4.

Besides him, two other prominent PN MPs have also been reguarly absent in the Dewan Rakyat. They were: PN chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin (Bersatu-Paguh) and Pas president Tan Sri Hadi Awang (Marang).
