14-year-old girl claims she was sexually harassed by security guard

NILAI - A 14-year-old girl has claimed she was sexually harassed by an apartment security guard here on Friday.

Nilai district police chief Superintendent Abdul Malik Hasim said the incident at 4pm happened when the victim was chatting with her friends in front of the apartment elevator.

“The victim was chatting with her friends at the time and was approached by a security guard of the complex.

“The man ordered her friends to return home and wanted to send the victim back home,” he said in a statement on Saturday.

The suspect on her way back home was harassed by the suspect who touched several parts of her body and asked her to kiss his cheek.

The scared victim then ran home before heading to the Nilai police station to lodge a report on the incident.

“The case is being investigated under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences against Children Act 2017 and further investigations are still ongoing.

“The public with any information regarding the incident is asked to contact Nilai district police headquarters (IPD) Criminal Investigation Officer Inspector Ahmad Kamil Rusli for further investigations,” he said.

The victim’s father not wanting to be identified said the incident made his daughter who was a person with disabilities (PWD) with trauma.

He said he hopes the suspect would be arrested immediately and faced with appropriate actions.

“I knew about it after my eldest told me about her being harassed. Both my children stayed there and my child is still shocked by the incident,” he said.
