SHAH ALAM - Pas and its president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang have drifted far from their original struggle.

Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) communications director Khalid Abdul Samad said the theme 'Menggempur Pemikiran Assobiyah’ which means to provoke the thinking of love for the nation and the spirit of togetherness which was the party's initial objective has been abandoned.

Khalid said Hadi's reasons for signing the Malay Proclamation by Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad showed a new policy and approach adopted by Pas, which is now the country, no longer the religion.

"Hadi said the Prophet started the Islamic struggle for all mankind, the pillar of his nation and people.Since the struggle needs the pillars of the nation, then there is strength, otherwise, there is no strength. We are not racial fanatics, but that is the basis.

"This means that comprehensive and complete Islamic principles and approaches, which were built on beliefs regardless of race, will no longer be Pas's approach as it was in its previous struggle.

Khalid also claimed that Hadi has denied all the principles taught and laid out by scholars such as the late Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat and Ustaz Fadzil Nor before.

He said that this is because the struggle based on faith and morals has previously been associated with race and nation.

"There are those 'ulama' who twist the hadith to declare Bani Taa Mim as Bani Tanah Malaya. If you want to change the direction and basis of the struggle, don't try to change the teachings and history of Islam itself," he stressed.

He added that the meeting was probably held because Pas wants to find new financial sources to finance the party, as netizens said.
