MACHANG - Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi says it would be difficult to change supporters' “belief” to accept DAP as an ally in the unity government, but it is not impossible.

This, he said was because of the negative perspective that has been instilled since 22 years ago by the previous leaders ruling the country.

“This is more than two decades of instilling hatred in supporters towards a certain group or party.

"That period is not easy to unravel, but it is not an impossible thing to do,” he said during a press conference after attending the Felcra Berhad Aidilfitri ceremony in Bukit Tiu, today.

Also present was Felcra chairman Datuk Ahmad Jazlan Yaakub.

Zahid said in order to convince Umno supporters to support DAP in the state elections, the party leader will have to get to know the target group.

He said in the past, BN voters also supported MIC and MCA candidates.

Previously, it was reported that Umno voters in the six states that will face the state election were asked to choose DAP candidates in their respective areas to strengthen the position of the unity government.
