Five MRSM students detained over bullying case

BALIK PULAU - Police have confirmed the arrest of five students from Mara Junior Science College (MRSM) here to facilitate in the investigation into a bullying case on last Friday.
The incident took place in the school toilet of Block B building at 11 pm, and it involved a Form 3 student.
It is reported that the victim was assaulted by Form 5 students due to his tardiness to wake up before sunrise for morning prayers.
Barat Daya district police chief Superintendent Kamarul Rizal Jenal confirmed the arrest when contacted.
He said the arrest was made on the same day the victim's father lodged a police report.
"All students involved were released on police bail after their statements were recorded and the case is being investigated for creating riots under Section 147 of the Penal Code."
Investigations revealed that the five suspects had also subjected 14 other victims to bullying on the same date, between 11pm and 12:30am, at three different locations. These locations included the toilet, the bag storage room and the senior's room in block B, he said.
"However, no reports had been lodged by other victims so far," he said.
