KUALA LUMPUR - Pas president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang says he is open to meeting anyone including Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

However, Hadi stated this openness was not out of Pas’ principle, objective and struggle.

“We are open with anyone however, the openness does not mean it would differ from the concept, principle, objective and our struggle,” he told media after the ‘Jejak Nabi Muhammad SAW book launching ceremony written by him and published by the Permata Ummah Foundation and Permata Ummah Library.

Hadi revealed some parties contacted and offered Pas to join the unity government.

“Pas has 53 seats, PKR only has 30 comprising 11 non-Malays seats, while 19 were Muslim seats.

“DAP has only three Malays out of 40 while 37 were non-Malays. If mixed with the coalition, the government would be dominated by non-Muslims.

“If he wanted to invite Pas, Pas would be backstage and not at the front. When making a government, the big parties should be the ones leading, but they wanted to ask the big party to sit at the back and the small ones to come forward,” he said.

A news portal previously reported Anwar hoped his relationship with Hadi could be rekindled.
