Rafizi denies claims that Hadi received offer to join unity govt

ISKANDAR PUTERI - Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) deputy president Rafizi Ramli denies Pas president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang's claims of receiving offers to join the unity government.

The Economy Minister said the offers were supposedly made by individuals in the government, that he has not heard of and outside of his knowledge.

“I have never heard of such offers. I’m among three individuals involved in the unity government’s negotiations besides Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Pakatan Harapan (PH) secretary-general Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.

“I don’t know from which era did the story come up. However, what I can say is that throughout my involvement in the unity government until now I don’t know of such offers, unless someone else did it (made the offer),” he said.

He said this during a press conference after the Half-Term Review Engagement Session of the 12th Malaysia Plan (2021-2025) with the Johor government at the Iskandar Puteri City Council (MBIP) Auditorium Hall, today.

Also present was Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi.

Yesterday, it was reported that Hadi claimed that such offer was made because PH especially PKR realised that its position was not stable with the total Malay seats of the party not being close to that of Pas.

The Marang MP said he was open to any offers from any individuals, but the offer must not fall out of Pas’ principles, objective and direction.

Commenting on Hadi’s statement that PKR was not stable, Rafizi said it was only the Pas president’s opinion.

“That is his view, but we must remember that the Prime Minister is from PKR and our party is part of the unity government,” he added.
