Arab and Islamic countries congratulate Erdogan on his win

KUALA LUMPUR - Arab and Muslim global leaders sent messages of congratulations to Recep Tayyip Erdogan's victory over his challenger Kemal Kilicdaroglu in the second round of Turkey's presidential election on Sunday.

In a phone conversation with Erdogan, the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, congratulated him on his win and wished Turkey under his direction swift development.

According to the Qatar News Agency (QNA), Erdogan also expressed his gratitude and hoped that the two nations' bilateral cooperation might be enhanced in order to achieve reciprocal advantages for the sake of regional growth.

Congratulations on receiving another mandate from the people, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Custodian of the Two Holy Cities of Saudi Arabia, said in his letter of congratulations.

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Abdulaziz Al Saud also prayed for Erdogan and Turkiye, "May the good relations that have been established between the two countries for a long time remain intact," according to a report by the Saudi News Agency (SPA).

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas quoted by Wafa, the country's official news agency, also conveyed his congratulations to Erdogan and expressed his appreciation for the support of the Turkish government to the struggle of the Palestinian people over the years.

The King of Bahrain, King Hamad Isa Al Khalifa, in his congratulatory message, said, "Congratulations for getting the mandate again from the people as the President of Turkey for the second term.

"Hopefully the good relationship that has been established between the two countries for a long time will remain intact," he said as quoted by the Bahrain News Agency (BNA).

In addition, OIC Secretary General Hissein Brahim Taha in his official Twitter account today, Monday, also sent his congratulations on Erdogan's success in retaining the presidency of Turkey, in addition to praying for the progress of the republic.

Also not missing out on congratulating Erdogan on his victory were the King of Jordan King Abdullah II, the Sultan of Oman Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al Said and the Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Nawaf Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah. - BERNAMA-AGENCIES
