SHAH ALAM - Former Umno Youth Chief Khairy Jamaluddin’s prediction that 50 per cent of Umno supporters will swing Perikatan Nasional (PN) way in the upcoming state elections is a good sign for them, says Bersatu President Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu.

Faizal, who is also the Perak PN Chairman, was convinced that this stemmed from frustrations with the Umno’s leadership decision to work with DAP and the Unity Government.

“They no longer support the Umno leadership of Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi because of his cooperation with DAP that no longer fights for the rights of the Malays.

“Because of this Umno members are now looking for a new platform that fights for the issues and plight of the Malays, and that can only be found in PN,” he told Sinar Daily when met at Karangkraf headquarters in Shah Alam on Tuesday.

In Khairy and Umno’s axed-Deputy Youth Chief Shahril Hamdan’s podcast this week, the former said their former party will lose half of the Malay votes in the six state polls if they do not relinquish the bad DAP perception that has been “indoctrinated” to the people for so long.

The former Rembau MP claims that the party’s Working Committee member Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan’s statement to “vote DAP” was too sensitive sparking anger and rejection among the party members and supporters.
