SHAH ALAM - The Economy Ministry will open opportunities for the public to directly apply for allocations to carry out development and small infrastructure public projects in the next two to three weeks.

Its Minister, Rafizi Ramli, said the application system is now in the final stage of preparation and his ministry will elaborate on the form of project applications that are allowed as well as related requirements when the system is introduced.

According to him, when the system is launched later, the people no longer need to go through layers of application process which normally takes a long time to be approved.

The opportunities are also open to provide room for the public to submit input and development proposals to the government which later could be matched with the planning of the related departments, he added.

He said this during an engagement session on the Mid-Term Review of the 12th Malaysia Plan by the Economy Ministry jointly with the Selangor government here, today.

Also present was Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.

"We will first start with small projects as usually they are not planned by the government, but the existence of these projects are only known to the assemblymen,” he said.

"(Whether they) get or not (application for allocation), it has to go through the process. We have to work with the district offices and others," he said.

According to Rafizi, the move is also a win-win situation and subsequently would facilitate the assemblymen as the applications can be submitted directly to the Economy Ministry - BERNAMA
