KUALA LUMPUR - Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim called on Pas president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang to stop using outdated and rigid narratives to attack the Unity Government.

The Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman said Hadi and the Opposition must make assessments based on the policies adopted by the government and not the number of Muslim or non-Muslim majority parties in it.

As a multi-racial country, the rights of non-Muslims must also be preserved to ensure peace while upholding Islam, he added.

"What is important is not the number of majority..what is more important is the policy.

"Where is the policy that (shows) we abandoned Islam, where? We betrayed the Malays, where? We stole Malay land, stole shares, stole projects—where?

"This is how we should assess. Don't use outdated and rigid narratives," he told reporters.

He had earlier inaugurated the "Orientalist Painting Exhibition: Mirror or Shadow?" at the Islamic Art Museum, which was also attended by the Chairman of the Albukhary Foundation Tan Sri Syed Mokhtar Al-Bukhary.

Anwar was responding to Hadi's statement that PH is not fit to be the government and lead the country because the coalition is dominated by non-Muslim parties.

It was reported that Hadi had claimed that the current government is weak because it is not led by a Malay-Muslim party.

Adding further, he said that in addition to promoting the appreciation of Islam, the Unity Government also needs to preserve the rights of non-Muslims considering that Malaysia is a multi-racial country.

"This is the guarantee of our country's security, and I am not inclined to let the people be swayed by sentiments that PH is not qualified to lead the country because there are more non-Muslims," he added.

At the same time, Anwar added that the Unity Government and the opposition should work together to stop the use of power and position to rob the people.
