SHAH ALAM - Sacked former Umno leader Khairy Jamaluddin is considering at the possibility of a second chance in politics by forming his own party, following his dismissal from Umno in January.

He said over the past few weeks and perhaps even months the political landscape in the country was becoming increasingly saturated and questioned himself if he had a second chance in politics.

"Why can't it be on our own terms? Because if we were to enter another person's home (political party) we need to get use to their culture. Perhaps the culture of that home may not be 100 per cent to what we want because we are in other people's homes.

"One question has lingered if there is a possibility for a fresh start but on my own terms," he said to a question from a listener in Keluar Sekejab podcast today with Shahril Hamdan.

After being sacked, Khairy has received invitations to join Bersatu and DAP.

Khairy reflected on his experience in Umno, where he had to conform to the party's established culture.

However, he recognised the potential drawbacks of establishing a new party, such as the risk of losing electoral deposits and facing ridicule from others.

"If you set up a new party you could go the way of Pejuang. Sorry to say you lose your deposit and people laugh (at you) but you may feel more fulfilled as you did it on your own terms," he added.

However, Khairy said there are several political inspirations and cited former Pakistani leader Imran Khan, who initially faced multiple defeats but persevered to achieve success within his party.

He acknowledged that Khan is currently facing challenges and turmoil with the army, underscoring the unpredictable nature of politics.

On the option of starting a new party and while acknowledging the possibility of failure, Khairy said establishing a party on one's own terms could lead to a sense of fulfillment, even if success is uncertain.

"If we were to start a new party, we need to be ready. We may lose. it's an option perhaps one day who knows (we may win.

"It's an option," added Khairy.
