KUALA LUMPUR - Despite Pas being in power for 33 years in Kelantan, the Kelantan Puteri Umno urges for more education funds to be allocated by the unity government to attract young voters in the state.

Its movement chief Engku Juliani Engku Mokhtar said education was the most important element to approach young voters, especially high school and university students.

"Many youths in Kelantan are actually very smart. However, they come from poor families. So, I’m hoping for the unity government and Umno to provide scholarships and education loans.

"We see that the youths now choose to work rather than pursuing their studies, but I still want the Kelantan youths to have good education," she said in an interview with Sinar Daily at the 2023 Umno General Assembly (PAU) at Dewan Merdeka, Kuala Lumpur World Trade Centre (WTC) here today.

She also said that despite the scholarships and education loans, she hoped that the unity government will be able to provide the Kelantan youths with laptops and stable internet connections.
