Puteri making waves on Tik Tok, finally penetrates into FYP - Nooryana Najib

KUALA LUMPUR - Puteri Umno is now making waves on Tik Tok and increasing its engagement with youths, says its Lembah Pantai chief Nooryana Najwa Najib.

Delivering her maiden speech as a delegate from the wing, Nooryana said she was delighted that the movement was now appearing on ‘For You’ pages (FYP) and being more recognised by Malaysian youths.

“Under the new wing’s leadership, I have seen Puteri progress so much, I can see the potential and effort by all members to take Puteri to greater heights.

“And in the span of two months we have managed to recruit 4,957 new members, so who says the younger generation is not interested to join Umno?” she questioned

Nooryana said that in order to attract the younger generation, leaders need to be in tune with the latest Tik - Tok trends and contents that appeal to the younger generation.

“We need to follow all the latest trends such as the Wes Anderson trend, the Korean trends, and the dancing trends whilst also educating them on current matters,” she stressed.

Touching on the subject of trends, Nooryana said one of the worrying trends affecting the youths is the lack of interest among secondary school leavers to further their studies.

“Young people nowadays are more interested in becoming gig workers as they can earn more as compared to other careers with a low basic pay where they only make about RM1500 to RM1800 a month.

“As compared to if they were influencers or Tik- Tok celebrities where they would be able to earn this much in a day, this will surely lead to a human capital crisis in about 5 to 10 years,” she said.

Nooryana said the unemployment rate among youths was also an issue that was concerning.

“Eventhough the unemployment rates seem to show a decline, there are still 200,000 graduates that are still unemployed, there are also those that are in jobs that are below their skills level,” she said

She urged for the government to look into the education system to also add in certain skill sets that might be needed in the future.
