Youth wing understands not all names submitted for state polls will be shortlisted

KUALA LUMPUR - Umno Youth Chief has seeked its members understanding as not all names submitted to be candidates for the six state elections will be shortlisted.

Umno Youth chief Dr Muhamad Akmal Salleh said he was aware that not all Umno members will be chosen to contest in the upcoming state elections since it has many layers of process.

"I can't comment on the seat distribution, let the officials do their job as discussions is still ongoing in regards to seat distributions.

"We have given the names of candidates for Umno Youth and we want to maintain the 30 per cent quota.

"The upcoming state elections are full of challenges so we leave it to the Unity Government to do its seat distribution first," he said when met at the Media Centre during the Umno General Assembly at World Trade Center (WTC) today.

Kelantan, Kedah, Selangor, Terengganu, Penang, and Negeri Sembilan state polls will likely take place in July or August.
