KUALA LUMPUR - Umno Supreme Council member Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz said that he has no problem contesting in the coming state polls if Umno nominates him, pointing out that he is "a party man" and therefore will adhere to the party's decision.

However, Zafrul, who is also the International Trade and Industry Minister, noted that he would harbour no grouses if he was not fielded in the state elections involving Kedah, Penang, Kelantan, Terengganu, Selangor, and Negeri Sembilan.

"Personally, it is up to the Umno and Barisan Nasional grassroots leaders to decide whether I should contest or not.

"However, until now, there has been no such decision. So, let’s wait," Zafrul remarked when met by reporters at the party headquarters at the Kuala Lumpur World Trade Centre here today.

In last year's 15th General Election (GE15), Zafrul fought against Pakatan Harapan's (PH) Datuk Seri Dr. Dzulkefly bin Ahmad for the Kuala Selangor parliamentary seat, where the former lost with a majority of 1,002.
