TEHRAN, Iran - Iran’s president Ebrahim Raisi’s visit to Latin America will open a new chapter in Iran-Latin America ties, said its foreign minister.

In a memo published ahead of the president’s trip, Hossein Amirabdollahian said dynamic diplomacy and clever interaction count as the doctrine of the Raisi administration in the field of foreign policy and international relations.

"In this doctrine, comprehensive development of relations and diversification of long-term relations and cooperation with world countries, including the Latin American region, is important,” Amirabdollahian noted.

The trip will open a new chapter in the long-standing relations between Iran and Latin America and strengthens mutually beneficial cooperation in energy, science, technology, health, medicine, agriculture, and the export of goods and technical engineering services, he added.

Raisi left Tehran to embark on a fourth-day Latin America tour in the early hours of Monday. The tour will take him to Venezuela, Nicaragua, and Cuba.

Prior to his departure, the president described the Islamic Republic’s relations with the three Latin American countries as "strategic”, given that their anti-arrogance stances are the same as Iran’s. - BERNAMA-IRNA
