KUANTAN - Umno vice president Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail believes the claim of 10 warlords joining Perikatan Nasional (PN) is just a rumour.

He said it was a tactic used by the opposition for the six states facing elections soon.

Rosdy said all parties should not trust unauthenticated reports.

“That’s just a rumour, don’t believe it. Anyone can say 10, five or three warlords expected to join PN.

“We must understand this is politics. Many stories can appear as the elections are approaching but we do not know the authenticity and it is being spread.

“If it is not proven, don’t believe it. When it is time, we will face elections. Just move forward,” he said.

He said this when asked to comment on the news of 10 Umno warlords joining PN.

Rosdy had earlier visited 16-month-old Muhammad Athif Fahri Mohd Farhan who suffered from a rare disease Type One Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) in Permatang Badak Maju, here on Wednesday.

PN on Tuesday stated it would announce a list of 10 warlords comprised of individuals cast aside by Umno to join the party within the coalition soon.

Its secretary-general Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin said the coalition’s leadership was finalising the matter.

It was previously reported that other than former Selangor Umno chairman Tan Sri Noh Omar and former Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin were said to be among the individuals that would join PN.

When asked about the possibility of an Umno warlord from Pahang being involved in the rumours, Rosdy said it was outside his knowledge.

“I didn’t hear any stories on that,” he said briefly.
