SHAH ALAM - Finance minister's political secretary Kamil Munim has hit out at Pas' extreme views of equating Penang with Israel, stating such agenda in a multicultural society was to incite tension.

"Pas' accusation of equating the Penang state government with Israel is ironically an insult to the struggle for the liberation of the Palestinian Muslims," he wrote in his Instgram post.

He said for Pas "when they are not in power in Penang, every action of the state government is perceived as hostility towards Islam and the Malay community."

The same applies when Pas' narative that the Federal Government is being "governed by a non-Muslim-dominated government."

Pas recently said that the Palestinians had 1.5 per cent ownership of their land in 1918 and ended up becoming refugees in their own nation.

The party said research carried out in 2010 showed Malay land ownership in Penang was barely 27 per cent. It said Penang had committed “systematic seizure” by taking control of districts that were previously Malay dominated.

Kamil said the claim of systematically displacing the Malay community in Penang is a provocation to the 18 Malay and Indian top management in the Penang Land and Mines Office who are part of the "system."

Kamil said the right to property can be referred to in Article 13 of the Federal Constitution that states that no one can be deprived of their property except in accordance with the law.

"Article 13(2) clearly states that no law can provide for the taking or using of property by force without adequate compensation," Kamil added.

The deputy PKR Youth chief further questioned Pas on public land sales deal in Terengganu sold at dirt cheap price to wives of current and former elected representatives from the state.

"Where was Pas when the sale of land was sold at a low price in Terengganu to the wives' of Pas representatives in Terengganu or Khairunnisa)?

"Where were the enforcers of righteousness when the state government allowed government land worth RM 5.87 million to be sold for only RM 500,000?" he claimed.

"Is this not a systematic confiscation of the rights of Malays in those states?," he questioned.

He asked Pas to stop practicing extremism.

Kamil said a study conducted by the Director of the Centre for Policy Research and International Studies (CenPRIS) at Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM)'s Associate Professor Dr Azeem Fazwan Ahmad Farouk had said that Malays were selling land to other ethnic groups.

Due to that, he questioned if Pas statement equating Penang to Israel was to incite Malay resentment towards other ethnic groups?

"Is sowing hatred and dissatisfaction among fellow human beings an action befitting of believers?," he questioned.
