PORT DICKSON - The Local Government Development Ministry (KPKT) is allocating RM150 million for the construction of a new People's Housing Programme (PPR) project in the sub-district (mukim) of Pantai, Seremban near here through the 'KPKT Sentuhan Kasih Program.

Its minister Nga Kor Ming said the condominium concept housing project involved 700 units on an 18.5-hectare site is expected to start at the end of this year, which would realise the dreams of the underprivileged to own their own home.

"In my three visits to this state, I have been announcing allocations. It was RM13.3 million and RM31.04 million last week, and today I added another RM150 million to build PPR. It is the largest PPR project and it needs to be carried out as soon as possible for the well-being of the people.

"The PPR with a price of around RM45,000 per unit will be built near Seremban town with various facilities as well such as natural 'green lungs' as leisure areas in line with KPKT's policy of fostering Sustainable Development Goals," he said.

He told reporters when he attending the handover ceremony of Ladang Tanah Merah Rent-To-Own (RTO) PPR Offer Letter to 94 beneficiaries which was also attended by Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun here today.

Nga said that through the planning and construction of a good landscape with a green concept, it was possible to build a residential area that was friendly to residents, thereby repelling the negative perception of PPR.

"I am sure Mukim Pantai is not the only PPR location promised by the Negeri Sembilan government. If there is more land offered to build PPR, KPKT will come again. So we welcome other states to also offer land for us to build PPR for the people," he said.

In the meantime, he said the PPR in Ladang Tanah Merah or PPR Desa Tanjung involved a total cost of RM20 million with 100 units of houses with an area of 700 square feet including a unit for the disabled (OKU), a multi-purpose hall, a prayer hall, a food court and a kindergarten.

"It is a special project of the federal government in collaboration with the state government for the estate community in the area," he said, adding that in addition to the PPR, there are three PPRs developed by KPKT, namely Senawang PPR, Ladang Siliau PPR and Rantau PPR.
