Dr Siti Mariah not defending Seri Serdang

SHAH ALAM - Seri Serdang assemblyman Dr Siti Mariah Mahmud is choosing not to defend her seat in the upcoming state polls.
Siti Mariah who is from Amanah said that she wanted to give opportunities to new faces to be in the state administration.
According to her, the decision was also made to enable her to pay attention to community work.
"This term, I am occupied with various state government programmes, so I haven't mingled with the local community.
"After this, I wish to approach the old folks. Health issues will be the main topic I will be focusing on," she said to Selangor Kini on Wednesday.
Although she will not be contesting, Mariah said that she is ready to share her experience and help Amanah to face the polls.
On Monday, the Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah agreed to dissolve the Selangor state assembly on June 23 to make way for the election.
Mariah is the Public Health, Unity, Women and Family Development exco and was the MP for Kota Raja between 2008 and 2018.
She won the Seri Serdang state assembly in the 14th General Election (GE14) with a majority of 14,363 votes defeating Datuk Mohamed Satim Diman (BN) and Noor Hanim Ismail (Pas).
