SHAH ALAM - Selangor will be administered by a caretaker government until a new state government is formed.

In saying this, Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said as he had announced last Monday, the 14th Selangor State Assembly has been officially dissolved today.

He said the Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah had consented to the dissolution on Monday last week.

"Earlier this morning, Selangor Assembly Speaker Ng Suee Lim handed over the notification letter to Selangor Election Commission director Shafie Taib.

"Following that, the state government administration will function as a 'caretaker government' to ensure governance, transparency, and responsibilities are carried out and maintained.

"This is to ensure the state government's programmes and policies, especially the government service system, continue to run efficiently," he said in a statement today.

In the meantime, he added that members of the state executive council will perform their duties as chairmen in their respective portfolio permanent committees so policies decided before the dissolution can be implemented smoothly without having to change any policies or make new substantive decisions.

"I have instructed the members of the state executive council not to use official vehicles to attend political programmes and meetings. This is to ensure the principle of good governance continues to be upheld.
