SHAH ALAM - Umno Youth leader Dr Muhammad Akmal Salleh asks former Damansara Member of Parliament from DAP Tony Pua to look at himself in the mirror first before making any statement accusing Barisan Nasional (BN) of being a ‘corrupt coalition’.

Akmal claimed that the country went through a dark age when it was governed by Pakatan Harapan (PH) until the government collapsed within 22 months.

He said Pua was appointed Lim Guan Eng’s adviser at that time.

“He (Pua), who was in charge of the Finance Ministry was not able to drive the development of the country’s economy until the gross domestic product (GDP) declined and the national debt increased dramatically.

“Not to mention the fall of ringgit value due to his actions and recklessness, which gave off a negative image of the country.

“Do not let a rude act of somebody like Pua cause the harmony and understanding that we want to create to be interrupted and stopped midway,” he said on Facebook.

On Friday, Tony ‘suddenly’ called BN which is now with PH in the Unity Government as a corrupt coalition.

The former DAP publicity secretary voiced the statement while speaking at a DAP fundraising dinner at Petaling Jaya City Hall (MBPJ) compound with the same label also tossed at Bersatu.

Commenting further, Akmal said that on the other hand, the alleged ‘corrupt’ BN had actually driven the country with sustainable economic growth and had been honoured by the World Bank and the World Economic Forum (WEF) which stated that Malaysia is the 23rd most competitive country in the world.

He said this includes BN’s success in increasing GDP to a value of RM1.4 trillion as well as efforts to strengthen the assets of government-linked companies (GLCs).

“Besides that, investment companies reached hundreds of billions and gave a high return to the people and the government such as Khazanah Nasional which increased from RM32 billion to RM116 billion while Petronas’ cash reserve increased from RM30 billion to RM174 billion,” he explained.

Therefore, he condemned Pua’s rude act which called BN a ‘corrupt alliance’ and created dissatisfaction among the Umno grassroots.

He said that Tony should realise that his act is tearing apart the harmony and unity being formed in the Unity Government which was born on the basis of tolerance and national spirit.

“Tony Pua should learn that the presence of Umno in the Unity Government is an important asset to ensure that the Malays’ horrifying fate and delirium over the 22 months of PH era shall not repeat.

“Apart from that, the expertise and experience of current BN ministers is also an important factor for the smooth administration of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim,” he commented.

Therefore, Akmal demanded DAP to take stern action against Tony.
