SHAH ALAM - Selangor Perikatan Nasional (PN) will not attack any individual, including Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, in the state election campaigns.

The state PN chairman, Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, however, said Selangor PN will focus on matters to solve the problems of the people in this state.

Azmin said Amirudin is his old friend in Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) and his protege, who was appointed as Menteri Besar.

"Yes, he is an old friend of mine in Keadilan (PKR); I suggested his name be appointed as Selangor Menteri Besar a few years ago.

"This is because at that time, we needed a young figure who could bring drastic changes to Selangor. We don't want to throw personal attacks at any individual or party," he said.

He said this when met at the Selangor PN Election Convention at the Ideal Convention Centre at Seksyen 15, here, today.

Azmin added that the first focus of the Selangor PN in the state election was to strengthen the commitment of the leadership and its members.

"Secondly, Selangor PN will continue to work hard to uplift the people and prosper Selangor, and thirdly, to resolve the people's problems," he said.

He said the people are currently angry because the federal government has no solution for the economic issues, employment, cost of living, inflation and ringgit that is getting weaker.

"Because the state government today conspires with the federal government, of course the people in Selangor would be affected. The people in this state want a solution to unsolved problems.

"So the anger has turned into a wave. The people now place great hope in PN because they have seen the capacity and performance of the PN government under Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin's leadership before, when the country was facing a crisis but was still able to provide solutions.

"When the country faces a crisis, we need clean and responsible leadership, and that's what PN has to offer, so that is why the wave of the people has awakened.

"The spirit cannot be held back any longer," he added.
